Wimberley Brewing Company Closes

WIMBERLEY - The months-old Wimberley Brewing Company closed this week due to financial and family pressures. Owner and brewer Bruce Collie sold the facilities to the former chef, who intends to reopen as a German restaurant.

Collie still has plans to soon reopen his brewpub nearby as a pizzeria and continue to expand its brewing capacity.

Correction: Wimberley Brewing has not closed permanently but has only shut down temporarily while relocating to new facilities nearby.

The Wimberley Brewing Company DID NOT close for financial OR family pressures. We are very happy with our development called "The Junction" here in Wimberley. 2 1/2 years ago, my family and I were forced to purchase 2 restaurants here at our development from the IRS, because our tenant failed to pay his taxes. The selling of the restaurant operation DID NOT include the brew pub. We sold one restaurant to Milagro's Mexican Food and the "brew pub building" to our chef and his partners. We are still the Wimberley Brewing Company, brewing our little hearts out, and soon to be opening at the third restaurant location on "The Junction" property

There was no forced purchase.Sounds like someone got greedy and bought up a bargain..... then and ran it to the ground.

Bruce Collie is a terrible employer and a person who does not live by the words he expects the rest of us too.

Bruce Collie is a crook, a liar, and a cheat. He was not forced to purchase the two restaurants, he seized them from the previous owner after he made his profits. He has since done this to another couple and is notorious for throwing his weight and money around with lawsuits. He even took his neighbor to court over her not wanting to pay property taxes on HER property that he built his driveway on...took her to court until she ran out of money, but he ultimately lost too because they could not afford the place after he wasted so much money on court, so they lost it and moved into their tour bus, later to move into the office building on his property that he could not keep tenants in...he is 6 months behind on his property payments at "The Junction" and even still owes the arcitect that designed the place money. He gets by on the sympathy factor because he can't keep his **** out of his wife...which is another selfish tradgedy as the younger of the 13 kids aren't right in the head, and one of them has defomaties....even so they keep on breeding and they do not care that the kids will suffer. He pretends to be a "good Christain man" but it is really just a cloak to hide all of his wrongs...he is a hypocrit and has no place in the small town he resides in, and more than a few people wish he would quit giving their town a bad name. What goes around comes around and someday he will definitely get his....

It's fairly obvious that this "anononmous" person is nothing more than a coward hiding behind his slanderous allegations. Bruce is a stand-up guy and is an assett to the local community. God Bless the Collie family! Their pizza and home brew is the best around.....go see for yourself!

You people do not know the same man I used to know and shame on you for smearing his good name like this.

When he was in college at UTA, he went home to San Antonio for a visit and saw a guy beating up on a young woman in a parking lot. As big as he was, Bruce thought he could take care of it, but the guy had a knife and Bruce carries the huge diagonal scar across his chest and abdomen to this day. He is lucky it didn't kill him. I shudder to this day when I think of it.

Bruce was always very sweet and modest and kind around our family....sounds like a lot of sour grapes and jealousy in Wimberley. Ignore them, Bruce, you will always have that type around.

Maybe if he and his family looked happy at all when they are allowed out he would look up. But when the whole town talks about how miserable they look and how they act it is kind of hard.

Whether or not what is said or true, does it really matter? My husband and I plan to visit Wimberly soon and we'll be happy to visit Bruce and his family and drink beer! Get over yourselves, people. I don't even know the guy, but I know I'm not perfect and neither are you. Take out the plank in your own eye. =)
