The relocation of Austin's Ginger Man has been known for some time, but its move date has been pushed back several months due to financial delays in the development of the new property to replace it. No definite date has been announced for the move but it will not happen at least until after the annual SXSW music festival in March.
The Ginger Man's new location is 301 Lavaca St, less than a block south than its current and original location of 15 years.

I spent about half of my Saturday night SXSW activities at the G-man. It's really a shame that funky old building will be torn down. I don't think the new location — even though it's also in an older building — will have quite the same charm.
Oh well, I'm sure I'll get over it after a few beers.
The new location is well and truly opened (since March 25) and quite nice. See some photos on my Flickr page of the last day at the old (http://www.flickr.com/photos/mrbaze/sets/72157615807634028/) and the first day at the new: http://www.flickr.com/photos/mrbaze/sets/72157615859860247/ The old location will open soon (early September) as "The Ghost Room," a live music venue with a much smaller beer selection.
We hit the new location on the 2nd Annual No.3 Bus Pub Crawl.
