This is a terrible beer.

I disagree with the previous statement. First, it is not a dark beer. It is not a heavy beer. This is a great summer beer for working outdoors. I've cut the grass, washed the car, and drank about three of these today. It's got a light taste, crisp finish and the refreshing zest of citrus. It's like the beer lovers lemonade. If you only enjoy a single type of beer or are closed minded about trying new things, then perhaps this is not the beer for you. If you enjoy beer and its complex and unique tastes, then I say give it a try. It's a refreshing summer beer.

If you like ginger ale (the soda), you'll like this one. I can't say that I'm a big fan, it's missing a lot of the stuff that I like in a beer - primarily the flavor of beer.

I bought a 12pack yesterday at Albertsons in DeSoto, TX. Not a fan of this one. I'll go back to Shiner Black

I wonder if any has made it down to Alvin, TX, South of Houston...I have a student who had some and indicated it's really interesting.

I ain't a real big beer drinker; Bock, Black and 102 are my top 3. Was thinking this would be worth a sip or two.

Shiner is not afraid to add variety to their line. I kinda' like this, but not as a traditional beer. If you are looking for a more substantial beer taste, stick to Bock or Black. As with all beer varieties, each to their own preferences. I think this one will catch on, but not with the true beer snobs.

I like this beer. It is what it is.. It is a lighter flavored beer.
Not a beer drinker's beer? lol. Maybe not a beer bellied redneck's beer, sure, I'll go with that!
But, I do like beer and like a lot. We will typically pick up a 6 of something different every month.

Very light and refreshing beer. Awesome, distinct grapefruit taste followed by the kiss of ginger makes this beer stand out as something unique. Highly recommend this to anyone. Most will enjoy. Prosit!

If you like Texas grapefruit, you will taste them it. The ginger is a clean contrast note, and the underlying beer is nice for what is essentially light beer. Balance is refreshing. 7.5/9 Supports good lawn management.

@aA
I can confirm it has made it to Alvin. I picked up a 12 pack last weekend at Kroger's.

This is a delightfully refreshing summer nectar that pairs well with the spicy salsa and grilled meat I am currently devouring.

This is a great summer beer. Very light, crispy and refreshing. Resembles slighty of fresca soda. Pairs well with anything outside in the Texas heat

I was supicious of this beer, but I decided to give it a shot a few weeks ago when it first came out. I wasn't sure I would finish it after the first taste, but it had grown on me by the time I got to the bottom of the glass. It will probably be a staple in my fridge as long as the weather is hot. This seems to me to be something that people will either love or hate. Kudos to Spoetzl for producing such an unusual beer.

This is a great beer. It's refreshing to see something new and different, and it's tasty too!

Imagine a Coors with half a grapefruit squeezed in. Basically, it tastes like crap.

It's not bad, it's just bland. Shiner makes some pretty good beers, especially their anniversary ones and some seasonals. This one fell short though.

One of the best original Shiner beers I have ever had! I will be drinking this all summer!!!

Life-long Shiner drinker - and admittedly, not many other beers - but I really enjoyed this. From the RGV, and can really taste our best citrus and the zap of ginger at the end is delicious. Will definitely be bbq-ing and drinking this throughout the summer.

I love it !!! Just bought a 6 pack at HEB in Tomball. Just right for these HOT Texas days. Very light and refreshing with a kick.

I absolutely LOVE this beer! Found it at SAMs one day and simply had to buy 4 cases..... Why is it seasonal? I would love to drink this beer year long

Ruby Redbird is one of the best and finest summer ales I have ever had. Went down to Shiner, TX a few days ago, met with the creator of Ruby Redbird, had some good conversation and great ice cold Shiner at Maeker's Tavern (only $2 a bottle)

I don't drink a lot of beer but lately I've become a fan of Shiner. I love grapefruit so of course I had to try this. not a lot of Grapefruit taste there and I just now noticed people saying it has ginger in it. Didn't notice that either. What I do like is it is easy to drink, doesn't have that horrible nasty bitterness that I think comes from hops. If hops is what makes most beer taste bad, I can't figure out why the hell they put them in there. I've read reviews complaining about it not having much fam and the color, but so what? i always try to get rid of the foam cause that's about the worst tasting part of beer. Does the color make a difference ? how ? if that's the case then i have to say I really like the label in the bottle and the whole Shiner / Texas personality of the company.

Love this, more gingery than grapefruit to me, regardless, this is my new favorite. We weren't buying Shiner before but hoping this will be around for a LONG time!

Love this beer buying it by the case in Fort Lauderdale. Great on a hot day. I heard it is even better on draft I'm going for 2 or 3 pints then to the gym.

I just had one for the first time. First words out of my mouth were "interesting." I thought it was pretty good. Nice little twist from the shiner brewery. At first i couldnt place the flavors but it makes perfect sense after i read how they make it. Great summer brew. Will be drinking more.
